This piece was an evolution, as most of my works are, where there was not a concept of what it was going to be during the initial stages of creation. It required me to listen to the canvas and the way the oil wanted to be sculpted. Then finally, once the painting was completed, I could sit back and see what exactly it was. To me, this feels like an ancient memory of a world, Atlantis, engulfed in excess and fire, before it restarts and we try again to do better.
